RHINOPLASTY
/ NOSE
SURGERY
The
nose is the focal point of your face and considered one, if not
the most defining features.
A beautiful, balanced nose enhances one's appearance and
compliments other facial features as well.

Our goal to create a natural beautiful nose that fits your face!
When your nose is
out of balance because it is too large, has a bump or is even
too small, it likely attracts too much attention. Changes are
often so subtle that your true beauty comes out without
appearing operated; restoring the nose that you should have been
born with. The one you deserve.
Rhinoplasty is one of the most common cosmetic surgery procedure
performed on men and women. It is also the most complex
operation in cosmetic surgery. Nasal anatomy is very intricate
and facial structures vary from person to person. Procedures
must be individualized for each and every patient.
The first consultation
In Sensual Body Dream during the first consultation the surgeon
analyzes the conditions of the patient which is the best way to
correct the defect.
The surgeon will recommend the best solution with respect to the
intervention to be made and the best form to perform it. He will
also answer all the questions that you have and tell the
reasonable expectations that you can have regarding the final
result.
Planning your Procedure
Good communication between you and the surgeon is essential. In
your initial consultation, your surgeon will ask what you'd like
your nose to look like, evaluate the structure of your nose and
face, and discuss the possibilities with you. He will also
explain the factors that can influence the procedure and the
results. These factors include the structure of your nasal bones
and cartilage, the shape of your face, the thickness of your
skin, your age, and your expectations.
Your surgeon will also explain the techniques and anesthesia he
will use, the type of facility where the procedures will be
performed.
Be sure to tell your surgeon if you've had any previous nose
procedures or an injury to your nose, even if it was many years
ago.
You should also inform your surgeon if you have any allergies or
breathing difficulties; if you're taking any medications,
vitamins, or recreational drugs; and if you smoke.
Don't hesitate to ask your doctor any questions you may have,
especially those regarding your expectations and concerns about
the results.
Preparing For Your
Procedure
Your surgeon will give you specific instructions on how to
prepare for your surgery, including guidelines on eating and
drinking, smoking, taking or avoiding certain vitamins and
medications, and washing your face. Carefully following these
instructions will help your procedure go more smoothly.
Procedure
For rhinoplasty, our medical team prefers the intranasal or
"closed" approach for most of patients.
The
nose is altered by use of hidden incisions inside the nostril.
There is no chance of any visible scarring since all the
incisions are concealed.
As long as an un-operated nose is not severely twisted, equal if
not superior results can be obtained without making an open
rhinoplasty incision.
In a few instances, we choose to use the "open" or external
approach. The main reasons our medical team may choose the open
approach for a primary rhinoplasty are for very crooked noses, a
nose that requires many grafts (pieces of cartilage to
strengthen portions of your nose, to be discussed in more depth
in revision rhinoplasty), and noses that are very short and need
to be made longer. Of course the choice of incisions is
discussed with all patients prior to surgery.
Our medical team uses the open approach for revision rhinoplasty,
which requires a broader viewscape for optimal results. When
used, the open rhinoplasty incision heals quite well and is
usually undetectable or barely visible.
During surgery, the cartilage in the tip of the nose is
reshaped. The tip can be rotated upward or downward, as well as
brought closer or further from the face. The tip is altered by
shaving cartilage yet leaving enough strength to withstand
healing and aging changes. Humps in the upper part of the nose
can be removed internally as well. A wide nose can be narrowed,
to accentuate once overlooked attractive eyes. We may utilize
grafts to add to some areas as well as remove tissue from
another area, all in efforts to create a balanced, natural,
strong look. These grafts are usually taken from the cartilage
inside your own nose.
Anesthesia
Rhinoplasty can be performed under local or general anesthesia,
depending on the extent of the procedure and on what you and
your surgeon prefer.
With local anesthesia, you'll usually be lightly sedated, and
your nose and the surrounding area will be numbed; you'll be
awake during the Procedures, but relaxed and insensitive to
pain. With general anesthesia, you'll sleep through the
operation.
Duration of the operation
Between 1 hour and 2 hours
How long is the patient hospitalized?
The rhinoplasty can be done as an outpatient procedure requiring
no hospitalization.
After Your Procedure
After
Procedure-particularly during the first twenty-four hours- your
face will feel puffy, your nose may ache, and you may have a
dull headache. You can control any discomfort with the pain
medication prescribed by your surgeon. Plan on staying in bed
with your head elevated, except for going to the bathroom, for
the first day.
You'll notice that the swelling and bruising around your eyes
will increase at first, reaching a peak after two or three days.
Applying cold compresses will reduce this swelling and make you
feel a bit better. In any case, you'll feel a lot better than
you look. Most of the swelling and bruising should disappear
within two weeks or so. (Some subtle swelling-unnoticeable to
anyone but you and your surgeon-will remain for several months.)
A little bleeding is common during the first few days following
procedure, and you may continue to feel some stuffiness for
several weeks. Your surgeon will probably ask you not to blow
your nose for a week or so, while the tissues heal.
If you have nasal packing, it will be removed after a few days
and you'll feel much more comfortable.
Post Op Follow up
In Sensual Body Dream the strictest norms of quality are
followed, that go beyond the intervention. For that reason
detailed postoperative controls are made, so the patient feels
safe and accompanied. During your stay you will have several
consultations, to check that the process follows the natural
course and to ensure you that can leave Bolivia without any
problem once in your country.
Getting Back to Normal
Most rhinoplasty patients are up and about within two days, and
able to return to school or sedentary work a week or so
following procedures. It will be several weeks, however, before
you're entirely up to speed.
Your surgeon will give you more specific guidelines for
gradually resuming your normal activities. They're likely to
include these suggestions: Avoid strenuous activity (jogging,
swimming, bending, sexual relations-any activity that increases
your blood pressure) for two weeks. Avoid hitting or rubbing
your nose, or getting it sunburned, for eight weeks. Be gentle
when washing your face and hair or using cosmetics.
You can wear contact lenses as soon as you feel like it, but
glasses are another story. Once the splint is off, they'll have
to be taped to your forehead or propped on your cheeks for
another six to seven weeks, until your nose is completely
healed.
Your New Look
In the days following procedures, when your face is bruised and
swollen, it's easy to forget that you will be looking better. In
fact, many patients feel depressed for a while after plastic
procedures-it's quite normal and understandable.
Rest assured that this stage will pass. Day by day, your nose
will begin to look better and your spirits will improve. Within
a week or two, you'll no longer look as if you've just had
procedures.
Still, healing is a slow and gradual process. Some subtle
swelling may be present for months, especially in the tip. The
final results of rhinoplasty may not be apparent for a year.
